Corporate History

MABIS Healthcare was founded in 1992 by President Michael Mazza and Vice-President, Steven Bisulca. The primary product focus in the beginning was blood pressure monitors, thermometers and stethoscopes; always driven by a company philosophy of superior customer service and consumer care. As the company grew, so did the product offerings. Success and partnerships with a growing customer base led to a significant increase in category offerings and prompted much of the innovations that MABIS Healthcare is known for.

Duro-Med Industries (DMI) has over 35 years experience supplying durable medical equipment to the home healthcare market, specializing in mobility and bath safety. Their extensive product line includes a large selection of branded items manufactured exclusively by DMI. Proudly, DMI is one of the most well-known names in the industry.

Both companies experienced strong growth throughout their histories. In 1997, MABIS was named the ‘40th Fastest Growing Company’ by INC 500 magazine. DMI holds the distinction of being one of the oldest companies in the highly competitive durable medical equipment industry.

The corporate headquarters relocated to Waukegan, IL in 2004 to a state-of-the-art 150,000 square foot facility. This location acts as the heart of the organization’s distribution channels, administrative and financial functions of the company as well as sales, marketing, purchasing and customer care. This center, along with three additional satellite warehouse locations, collectively create a shipping network designed for expedience and efficiency.

In 2005, MABIS Healthcare and DMI joined their powerful and recognized brands under their parent company, DMS Holdings, to become a leader in the healthcare industry. As one company, they support the professional, consumer and specialty markets with over 5,000 products.

MABIS DMI Healthcare strongly believes in a customer driven ideology. This philosophy is evident in every facet of their business. Customer Service, located in the Jessup, GA. office, offers highly courteous, exceptional assistance. Customer Care, located in the Waukegan, IL. office, supports the toll-free hotline printed on every package with product use information and parts and accessory ordering geared directly toward the end user.

Customers are further supported by a professional marketing department, offering graphic services, private label assistance and merchandise planning. An on-site quality control department adheres to a strict testing and inspection program, allowing MABIS DMI Healthcare to offer one of the most comprehensive warranty programs in the industry. Double-digit growth has led to the addition of multiple shipping locations. Four nationwide distribution centers mean that most shipments will be received by our customers within forty-eight hours.
